A new blog post by Instagram revealed that Suvarnabhumi Airport in
Bangkok, Thailand is the most “Instagrammed” spot of 2012, beating the
likes of Disneyland in California and Times Square in New York, which
came third and fourth respectively.
Over 100,000 images were uploaded and filtered at the Thai capital’s airport, the photo-sharing platform reported.
The results shocked many as even the second place spot belonged to Siam Paragon Shopping Mall in Bangkok.
According to Zocial Rank, a social-network and date analysis application, there are 425,180 users based in Thailand, which perhaps indicates that Thais were among Instagram’s most avid users in 2012.

Out of all the ten spots, seven were American-based, with Los Angeles
sporting venues Staples Center and Dodger Stadium making the cut in the
top ten.
The only European place that managed to make the list was the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
It is no secret that Instagram has really caught on in the social media radar in the past year or so, having being acquired by Facebook in September for a whopping $715 million.
It was during this time, Instagram reached a milestone of 100 million users.
Unlike Facebook which is geared towards connecting people, Instagram has become somewhat of a platform for people to showcase their world travels.
